Crowns

Dental crowns are tooth-shaped caps that are placed over top of teeth in order to restore the tooth to its original size and shape, or to improve the aesthetics of your smile.

There are many reasons why you may need to have a dental crown placed on your teeth, including:

  • To cover up discolored or misshapen teeth
  • To hold a dental bridge in place
  • To improve the aesthetics of your smile
  • To restore a broken or worn down tooth
  • To protect a weak or cracked tooth from breaking altogether

What should I expect during my procedure?

During your initial visit, the damaged tooth will be examined and X-rayed. If the tooth contains decay or an infection, a root canal treatment may need to be performed first.

Our amazing Digital Dentistry will make this process much shorter and more bearable than other offices in Parker. In most offices you would be subjected to two very long visits where they would prepare your tooth, make a temporary plastic restoration, take a gooey impression of your teeth and then send it off to the lab for 2-3 weeks to make the crown. Then you would have to schedule another appointment, take another day off work, and come back to have the permanent crown put in. This old style of bridge fabrication takes upwards on 3-4 hours of your time and there are many potential problems with delivering the final restoration.

At Front Range Smiles, we value your time and your comfort, so we do things a little differently. First, we ensure that you are comfortable for the procedure and understand the need for it. Then, we will prepare your tooth to receive the crown by removing a small amount of tooth structure to make space for the crown. Our digital technology allows us to take digital impressions of your teeth using a very small camera. We then take a few minutes to digitally design a crown that will fit perfectly onto your tooth. Then we will place your final restoration (no plastic temporaries here), so that when you leave you are ready to show off your beautiful new crown. This process saves you 1 entire visit and about 2 hours of sitting in the dental chair.
