Common Questions

How often should I see a dentist?
The American Dental Association recommends that you visit the dentist every six months to receive a cleaning and an exam. This includes examining the teeth, removing plaque, a general cleaning and you may also get a dental X-ray.

What kind of toothbrush should I use?
A soft bristled brush is recommended to minimize damage to your gums. You should also make sure that the head of the brush is small enough to fit around the teeth in the back of your mouth.

Is flossing as important as brushing?
Flossing removes plaque between the teeth where your toothbrush can’t reach. Skipping the floss can be a major contributing factor to gum disease, so make sure you do it every day!

What are the symptoms of gum disease?
Gum disease, also called periodontal disease, is painless in its first stages, making it even more important to look out for the physical signs. Some symptoms to keep an eye out for include receding gums, red or bleeding gums, consistent bad breath, and loose teeth. If you have any concerns about gum disease, please make an appointment (link to Contact page) at Front Range Smiles, located in Parker, Colorado.

Should I trust over-the-counter whitening products?
Any toothpaste on the market will remove surface stains and some whitening toothpastes can provide additional stain removal. However, please note that they will remove surface stains only and don’t actually contain bleach to whiten teeth. Other whitening products can contain hydrogen peroxide that helps remove stains on the tooth’s surface, but there is no home dental product that can even come close to producing the dazzling effect you’ll receive from Front Range Smiles’ whitening products.
